TVS Motor Company is about to make a big splash in the world of alternative-fuel two-wheelers with its TVS Jupiter CNG scooter. This new scooter was shown off as a concept at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. It will be the first factory-fitted CNG-powered scooter in the world, and it will be a great combination of low cost, high efficiency, and environmental friendliness.
The Bi-Fuel Advantage: More Power and Less Money
The bi-fuel system is what makes the Jupiter CNG special. It can run on both Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and petrol. This is the best of both worlds for riders: CNG is cheap for daily commutes, and petrol is easy to find for longer trips or in places where CNG infrastructure is limited.
The scooter’s engine is a modified version of TVS’s 124.8cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. It should be able to make 7.2 PS of power and 9.4 Nm of torque at its best. This is a small drop from the petrol-only Jupiter 125, but the real benefit is that it uses less fuel. TVS says that its CNG-powered vehicles can go 84 km on a kg of CNG, and when both fuel sources are used, they can go 226 km. This means that people who drive to work every day will save a lot of money. Some estimates say that the cost of running on CNG could be as low as ₹0.50 per km, which is a big drop from the cost of a regular petrol scooter.
Design and Features
The Jupiter CNG looks like the TVS Jupiter 125, which is a well-known and popular design. It has small “CNG” badges to set it apart. The placement of the CNG cylinder is the biggest difference in the design. The 1.4 kg CNG tank is under the seat, which means that the scooter doesn’t have the big storage space under the seat that the petrol Jupiter 125 has. It still has a 2-liter gas tank in the floorboard, though.
The Jupiter CNG is expected to have many of the same features as the petrol version, such as a semi-digital instrument cluster, LED headlights, a USB charging port, and TVS’s IntelliGO start-stop technology, which makes it even more fuel-efficient.
Details about the launch and the market outlook
People are looking for more affordable and environmentally friendly ways to get around, which is why the TVS Jupiter CNG is coming out now. The government is pushing for more CNG infrastructure, which means that the scooter is in a good position to take advantage of this growing market.
The TVS Jupiter CNG is expected to come out in late 2025 or early 2026, but there is no official launch date yet. The price range is likely to be between ₹90,000 and ₹1,00,000 (ex-showroom), which is more than the price of a regular Jupiter 125. The initial cost may be higher, but the long-term fuel savings should quickly make up for the extra cost, making it a good choice for riders who are concerned about costs.
The TVS Jupiter CNG isn’t just a new model; it’s a possible game-changer in the Indian two-wheeler market because of its unique bi-fuel technology and focus on affordability and sustainability. It shows a modern way of thinking about getting around in the city, giving the modern rider a practical and eco-friendly option.
