TVS Motor Company brings new Black Diamond Editions of its Apache RTR 310 and Apache RR 310 to the Indian market, darkening the color schemes of its flagship motorcycles just before the festivities-driven purchasing season. The new editions features an exclusive all-black paint scheme on top of the already-equipped top-spec variants, while the fully faired RR 310 also gains a significant technology upgrade.
The price for the RTR 310 Black Diamond Edition is Rs. 2 48 990 and Rs 2 87 790 on the RR 310 Black Diamond Edition. Both these prices are ex-showroom Delhi. The bikes are available for sale through TVS dealers from 17 th September.
The biggest visual change is the new Black Diamond finish. Although both motorcycles continue with the all-black finish, the finish now has a darker tone giving both bikes a more subdued yet more aggressive appearance when compared to brighter schemes on offer in the rest of the range. For those riders wanting a more subtle ‘stealth’ inspired look, the new finish offers an alternative without any alteration to the actual design of each motorcycle.
TVS though has kept both the Black Diamond Editions on the respective top of the line versions where the equipped motorcycle has a quickshifter installed. So there have been no major mechanical improvements done to these motorcycles in this update. Rather its styling, equipment and some technological additions.
The Apache RTR 310 motors 312cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled some power has 35.6bhp and 28.7 Nm peak torque. The Apache RR 310 using this same basic 312cc engine architecture produces 37.54bhp and 29Nm.Powering both Black Diamond Edition and the rest of the generation Apache RR 310 is a 6-speed transmission and has the quickshifter.
Probably the most value-adding update rolls down here on the Apache RR 310. The Black Diamond Edition adds a Keyless Ride feature that was previously available on the RTR 310. Instead of having to turn a traditional key to start your bike, instead you use a compatible key fob to switch on the motor. This gives the RR 310 a more luxurious feel of ownership as well as one of its tech features creeping closer to its naked sibling.
The new motorcycles also continue many aspects of TVS’s broad electronic rider-assistance package. Once again, the Apache 310 range will incorporate Race Tuned Dynamic Stability Control, cruise control, cornering ABS, cornering traction control, launch control and drag torque control as standardthese systems are all aimed at maintaining brake, throttle and traction output in the varying circumstances presented on the road.
But the Apache RTR 310 and RR 310 still have a degree of separation from each other. The RTR 310 has a streetfighter stance with a more upright riding position, catering toward riders in need of more performance oriented, aggressive road machine. The RR 310’s full fairing and more committed style still tie it back to TVS’ Apache racing heritage.
