Can finally add to the list with iPhone Duo is the first foldable smartphone by Apple, the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
On 9 September, alongside the new foldable iPhone was an important day for Apple, the launch of a product of the long-anticipated foldable and the first launch with the new CEO of Apple, John Ternus.
Ternus officially took over as Apple CEO on September 1 200 which means that the recent iPhone event was the first of his as CEO. Cook is the executive chairman and Ternus is now in charge for future Apple hardware and software developments.
The most notable announcement was easily the iPhone Duo, the company’s first ever foldable iPhone. Unlike a standard handset, the Duo unfolds to show a 7.6 inch Super Retina XDR display.
When folded, the little device has a small outer display 5.4 inches. Apple states this offers 90 percent of the screen area of the 18 Pro phone.
Both screens have the same aspect ratio and so can display content while changing states more seamlessly. Apple has also heavily presd offering an organic design.
Apple states that the Duo is the “thinnest iPhone, open” it is equipped with a partnership association and an “arbitrator-enhanced nano-texture surface finish” “designed to extract down any glares and eliminate the twist canker.
” And, the world’s first “micro pops” is mounted on the inner display of the site under the pop-up camera to create a more “seamless viewing experience”. The foldable is equipped with Apple’s latest A20 Pro chip and features a bespoke vapor chamber and dual-battery design to tackle heat and power within the narrow profile.
Apple will also be introducing iPad-style multitasking to the foldable with a redesigned iOS 27 experience. The Apple Pencil support is scheduled for later this year. The iPhone Duo will start at 1,999 in the US, making it the most costly iPhone that Apple has ever produced.
The phones will be available for pre-order on October 16 and in-store on October 23. With the Duo, Apple launched the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Both flagship phones share the A20 Pro processor and feature a new 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture allowing for three different aperture settings.
In addition, Apple has introduced new Pro controls for the user to manually control things like aperture, shutter speed and white balance. The Dynamic Island has been made physically smaller than the 13, but still able to showcase more, with up to three Live Activities running. Performance is just as important.
The A20 Pro is built on a 2nm process, and features a new Neural Engine to make AI on your phone faster. Also, a new vapor chamber is included, which helps the devices to maintain a higher level of performance for longer, and at lower temperatures.
