Motorola has introduced a new slate to its existing portfolio in the form of the Moto Pad 70. A more streamlined 5G offering, this new release attempts to ease the balance between work, play and a little bit of creativity thanks to the inclusion of a larger high-res display, a battery that lasts for a while and the bundled-up-in-the-box Moto Pen. The experience is centered around a 12.1-inch IPS display in a 2.5K resolution, 2560 by 1600 pixels, quick panel refreshes at 90Hz, and can hit up to 800 nits in high-brightness mode and 96 percent of P3 DCI color. Motorola claims that the display is TV Rheinland-certified flicker-free, Really reducing blue light emission and providing smooth, long reading and video experience sessions. The slate remains remarkably slim at 6.
49 mm in thickness and weighs under 530 grams, So can be used on the go easily despite its relatively large display size. It features an IP52 IP rating for sufficient resistance against dust and splashes and available in a single Pantone Sea Angel metallic finish. Powered by a 8-core MediaTek Dimensity 6400 with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, starting storage on the Moto Pad 8 is 128GB with 256GB of UFS 2.2 memory, both of which are expandable via a microSD card (up to 2TB).
The 8 gives us plenty of power for multitasking, watching streams, and taking notes, but isn’t quite enough to cater for enthusiast gaming or serious art and creation work. On the software side of things, the tablet ships running Android 16 with Motorola’s Hello UI on top. The company has later pledge support for several years of security patches and Android upgrades.
Battery life is perhaps the clearest positive. The 10,200mAh battery is fanned by 68W wired charging (the brick is supplied), and Motorola claims you can stream YouTube nonstop for 13 hours on a full chargean endurance benchmark that should see most users through a day’s worth of screen time fairly comfortably. And thanks to four speakers with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio support, you’ll benefit from more balanced audio than many other tablets at the same price point. The back features just a 13-megapixel autofocus camera while there’s an 8-megapixel shoot for video chat on the front.
Connectivity includes 5G Sub-6, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth, and a USB-C port. An optional magnetic keyboard folio can be snapped on by a pogo-pin connector (so no Bluetooth or Wi-Fi needed), bringing a more productivity-oriented, laptop-like work environment. The Moto Pen is equipped with 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity plus tilt and palm rejection, letting it be a helpful asset whether you’re taking notes, capturing sketched ideas, or annotating work.
Motorola’s Smart Connect feature extends the tablet’s usability by pairing it with compatible Moto phones and PCs. Pricing in India for the 8GB plus 128GB will be Rs. 33,999 and it is for the 8 GB plus 256 GB storage will be Rs. 36,999. The device will be available for sale on 15 August through flipkart, Motorola site and select retail outlets. Some bank rebates will help some customers save a few thousand rupees off of the sticker price.
