Mahindra & Mahindra is a well-known name in India’s automotive industry. With the sporty, tech-filled Mahindra BE 6e coupe-SUV, the company has made a bold move into the electric vehicle (EV) market. The BE 6e, which came out on November 26, 2024, along with its sibling, the XEV 9e, is Mahindra’s first car under its “Born Electric” sub-brand. It is built on the cutting-edge INGLO platform. This electric SUV starts at ₹18.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and has a futuristic look, cutting-edge technology, and exciting performance. It is a strong competitor in India’s growing EV market. The BE 6e is more than just a car; it’s a statement of India’s automotive power on the world stage. It has a claimed range of up to 682 km and a lot of advanced features.

Design: A Head-Turner from the Future

The Mahindra BE 6e is a sight to behold, and it fits with the brand’s “Heartcore Design” philosophy. The BE.05 concept inspired this car’s aggressive design, which includes J-shaped LED daytime running lights, a closed-off grille, and a sleek, coupe-like sloping roofline that makes it look sporty and improves aerodynamics. The SUV is 4,371 mm long, 1,907 mm wide, and 1,653 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,775 mm. This makes it stand out on the road. The Aero Bridge on the hood and the air curtains on the bumper are two examples of aerodynamic features that make the car even more efficient. The LED tail lights at the back match the dynamic design of the front. The lower bumper is inspired by a fighter jet. The 20-inch wheels, which are pushed to the corners of the car, not only make it more stable but also make it look bolder. This car looks fast even when it’s not moving, and its design looks like something out of a sci-fi movie.

Performance: Exciting and Useful

The Mahindra BE 6e has a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) electric motor that gives it a thrilling driving experience. It comes with two battery packs: one with 59 kWh that makes 228 bhp and one with 79 kWh that makes 281 bhp, both with 380 Nm of torque. The bigger battery has an ARAI-certified range of 682 km, but in real life, it can only go 400 to 500 km in the city with the air conditioning on. The BE 6e can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds, and its top speed is 202 km/h. Its semi-active suspension and speed-sensitive steering make for a stable and responsive ride that drivers love. Drivers can choose from three driving modes—Range, Everyday, and Race—and a Power Boost feature that gives them a 10-second torque boost. The battery can go from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes with a 175 kW DC fast charger, which makes long trips possible.

Inside: A cockpit-like retreat

When you get inside the Mahindra BE 6e, you’ll see a cabin that looks like a cockpit and combines luxury with technology. The main feature is a twin-screen setup with a 10.25-inch infotainment display and a digital driver’s display. It also has a two-spoke steering wheel with a lit-up BE logo and touch-sensitive controls. The 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system makes the music sound great, and the panoramic sunroof with customizable 256-color light patterns adds a fun touch. Convenience is improved by ventilated seats, wireless charging for two phones, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, the sloping roofline makes it a little harder for taller passengers to get in and out of the car. The flat floor from the INGLO platform makes the back of the SUV as big as possible, and the SUV has a 455-liter trunk and a 45-liter frunk for practical storage. Some of the plastic parts could be better, but the overall fit and finish are very high quality.

Safety and Technology: The Latest Features

The Mahindra BE 6e has a lot of cutting-edge technology, like the MAIA system, which makes the in-car experience better with features like a camera for taking selfies or making work calls and a Secure360 surveillance system for keeping parked cars safe. Level 2+ ADAS has five radars and a vision system. It has adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and auto-emergency braking that are all set up for Indian driving conditions. Seven airbags, electronic stability control, brake-by-wire technology, and a boron-steel body structure all make the car safer. Mahindra says it could get a five-star crash rating. It also has an AutoPark feature with more than 200 parking options and a powered tailgate, which make it even more appealing.

The Mahindra BE 6e comes in 18 different versions and costs between ₹18.90 lakh and ₹27.65 lakh (ex-showroom). It goes head-to-head with the Tata Curvv EV and the MG ZS EV. Its low introductory price, bundled home charging solutions, and low-interest financing make it a good deal. Deliveries started in March 2025, and the Pack Two 79 kWh model was added in June 2025 for ₹23.50 lakh. Mahindra says that more than 10,000 units have been sold in just 70 days, which shows that the market is accepting the product. But because of a legal fight with IndiGo over the “6e” brand, Mahindra changed the name to BE 6. It is still fighting for the rights in court.

A Game-Changer for Indian EVs: The Verdict

The Mahindra BE 6e is a bold electric vehicle (EV) that focuses on the driver. It has a futuristic design, exciting performance, and the latest technology, all at a reasonable price. The range, safety features, and sporty dynamics of this midsize EV make it stand out, even though the rear seats could be more comfortable and some of the interior plastics could be better. The BE 6e is more than just an electric SUV; it’s a sign of India’s growing power in the global auto industry. It shows that EVs can be fun and affordable at the same time. The BE 6e is a great choice for both fans and city dwellers because it changes the game for Indian EVs.
