mahindra vision x

Mahindra has shown off the Vision X concept as a sneak peek at its next line of SUVs that are less than 4 meters long. The concept car was shown off at the company’s “Freedom NU” event, along with other concepts like the Vision S, Vision T, and Vision SXT. It shows a big change in the way the brand designs its smaller cars. The Vision X still looks tough, but it now has a sleeker, more urban-friendly look with sharp lines and a futuristic feel.

Design and Features

The Vision X‘s clean, modern lines give it its outside look. The front fascia has slim LED daytime running lights above the main headlights, which makes a unique two-tier lighting layout. The grille has an X-shaped mesh pattern, which is a direct reference to the name of the idea and a signature feature that makes the car easy to spot. Other design features that help with aerodynamics are a clamshell bonnet, square wheel arches with gloss-black cladding, and door handles that fit flush. The back of the car has a connected LED light bar and a split spoiler that give it a sporty look and feel, even though it’s small and planted.

The Vision X is expected to have a clean, modern cabin with two screens for the infotainment and instrument cluster. Mahindra’s India Design Studio (MIDS) and Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE) in the UK worked together to come up with the design.

Powertrain and Platform

The Vision X is built on Mahindra’s new NU.IQ platform, which is a flexible modular architecture that can fit a wide range of body styles and powertrains. This platform works with petrol and diesel engines, hybrid systems, and all-electric powertrains, which gives Mahindra a lot of options for future models. The NU.IQ platform also has a flat floor, which should give it a roomy cabin and the best interior space for a car of its size.

Positioning in the market and production

The Mahindra Vision X is expected to hit the market in 2028 or 2029. It is expected to be a possible replacement for the current 3XO SUV and will compete with well-known sub-4-meter SUVs like the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, and Maruti Brezza. The new platform can be used for both right-hand and left-hand drive, which shows that Mahindra wants to sell cars in India and around the world.
